Health and Safety Policy Statement
Commitment to Safety
At YKCA, Inc., the safety and health of our employees, subcontractors, and the public are our highest priorities. We believe that every work-related injury is preventable. As a specialized electrical and technical contractor, we are committed to maintaining a work environment that meets or exceeds the safety standards set by the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA).
Compliance with Cal/OSHA
YKCA, Inc. strictly adheres to California Code of Regulations, Title 8, Section 3203. In compliance with state law, we have implemented a comprehensive Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), which serves as the foundation of our safety culture. Our program includes:
- Responsibility: Clearly defined safety roles for management and field personnel.
- Hazard Identification: Regular site inspections and audits to identify and evaluate workplace hazards, including high-voltage risks and construction site safety.
- Correction of Hazards: Procedures for the timely correction of unsafe or unhealthy conditions.
- Training and Instruction: Mandatory safety training for all employees before starting new assignments and when new hazards are introduced.
Electrical Safety Standards
Given the technical nature of our work, YKCA, Inc. enforces strict compliance with NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace) and specific Cal/OSHA electrical safety orders. This includes rigorous Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and the maintenance of insulated tools.
Communication and Reporting
We maintain an open-door policy regarding safety. Employees are encouraged and required to report any unsafe conditions, "near misses," or accidents immediately to their supervisor without fear of retaliation. No employee will be required to perform work that they consider to be unsafe.
Accountability
Compliance with this Safety Policy is a condition of employment at YKCA, Inc. Management is responsible for providing the resources and training necessary to work safely, and every employee is responsible for following established safety procedures to protect themselves and their colleagues.
